The questions you ask of your online applicants determines the insights you gain to their fitness for a given position. This is the biggest drawback to large "monster-like" solutions; you are restricted to questions chosen by developers in no way associated with your facility.

Thankfully, NHIemployment gives you the flexibility to ask the questions you want. Each of the built-in questions can be designated as required (a response must be received before posting for positions), optional (response not required for posting), or do not ask (question is omitted from the online application and printed application alike). You can also write dozens of your own questions.

Each application type has its own set of questions. For instance, nursing applicants generally are not asked about clerical skills or experience maintaining laundry facilities. Likewise, food service employees are unlikely to have professional certifications. You can fine-tune the question set to reach a delicate balance of brevity and thoroughness. Some companies opt for quick applications to increase volume, while others use a longer application process to identify applicants lacking the initiative to invest an hour or more in their career pursuits.
